WHAT'S NEW ON Z STREET

E-mail Print PDF

07/22/10  Excuse me, how is it that all those "peace" and "humanitarian" anti-Israel activists NEVER focus on the brutal and inhumane treatment of the Palestinians in the Arab world?  Khaled abu Toameh, brave and brilliant as always.
07/19/10 MUST READ  Daniel Greenfield describes - very clearly, with dates, events and names, how the world created Hamastan, and how it forced Israel to be complicit in elevating its mortal enemies into statesmen close to having a state.  And, as always, Greenfield (a/k/a Sultan Knish) writes beautifully.
07/15/10 MUST READ  Matt Hausman (Z STREET's own) makes an essential, and almost always ignored, point about the many well-meaning attempts to correct Israel's PR problem.  Too much effort is spent on the concerns of others who hate Israel no matter how much she puts her head down, so playing to them is not only useless but dangerous.  Read it.
07/15/10 UN MOVES TO IMPLEMENT GOLDSTONE REPORT.  Anne Bayefsky describes in detail what this really means and who the players are.  How many attacks from how many different fronts can Israel withstand?  As many as it needs to, of course, but these unrelenting assaults on Israel's integrity and humanity from some of the most grotesque violators of morality is, to put it mildly, enervating.
07/14/10 NEW CATEGORY: LATEST INSANITY FROM THE MIDDLE EAST.  And today's winner is: PA President Mahmoud Abbas is working behind the scenes to get himself chosen for a Nobel Peace Prize.  No kidding.  Check it out.
07/09/10 Finally!  An article addressing a topic that has utterly confused me for a very long time.  Ben Weinthal asks why it is that Gays and Lesbians bash Israel.  Yeah, why??
07/07/10 Despite all the pretend kissy-face time Bibi is required to endure, Amb. Dore Gold lays out clearly what the deal is: what Israel can and will do, and what it can't and won't.
07/05/10 MUST WATCH AND LISTEN a hauntingly beautiful and crushingly true song.  As your eyes well up, resolve to be strong and outspoken in your defense of Israel.  So few are.

INFO ABOUT THE FLOTILLA FASCISTS
and WHAT ISRAEL REALLY DID, AND WHEN, AND WHY

6/8 MUST READ: Turkey is back in the bosom of the Arab world, as reported in "Turkey is calling for a jihad on Israel."  When you need to boost your popularity with the Arab world, start trashing Israel.

6/6 UPDATE:  Look at the "peaceful" "activists" welcoming the Israeli soldiers - such brazen monsters, the barbarians took pictures of the soldiers who were (briefly) captured, presumably to use to back up demands that were to be made of Israel. 6/4/10 UPDATE: SITE FOR MORE INFO http://www.talkgaza.com/flotillafacts/

6/2 UPDATE: PM Netanyahu speaks on the world's response to the IDF's LEGAL, RATIONAL operation on the Mavi Marmara http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BUG12kU8-jE  "We will never apologize for defending ourselves."  YES!!!  That's what Israel needs to keep saying, over and over.  It's true and we should NEVER be ashamed of it.

All of us on Z STREET:

It is our job to share the key messages regarding the Gaza Flotilla violence with everyone we know. Send on this info, pick a few facts and write letters to newspapers (there will be many negative articles in the days to come - correct what is incorrect, provide what is correct!), tell friends and not-friends, keep it going.  Be relentless - it's our only hope.

Included below are the facts regarding the violence that occurred; the background leading up to it, including the expressed hope of the flotilla organizers that violence would be beneficial to their public relations and the use of children as part of their PR campaign; ithe reasons for the blockade and the provision of humanitarian goods by Israel to the Gazans despite their leaders' continued terrorism against Israel; and the legal support for Israel's actions. We have the essential supporting evidence, including videos, below.

Comments? Questions?  Please go to WWW.ZSTREET.ORG and leave your comments so that we all can benefit from everyone’s suggestions and remarks.
#######
* Sunday night the IDF forces boarded an Islamist-controlled flotilla which was bound for Gaza in contravention of the blockade imposed because of the years-long practice of smuggling support for the Gazan terrorist activities directed at Israel.
* Israel left Gaza in hopes of peace in 2005 and in return received more than 10,000 rockets and terrorist attacks.
* The State of Israel approached the organizers of the flotilla – prior to their departure and late, while at sea – and invited them to dock at the Port of Ashdod for the sake of transferring their cargo to Gaza, subject to security inspection.  The organizers refused.
* "We fully intend to go to Gaza regardless of any intimidation or threats of violence against us, they are going to have to forcefully stop us," said one of the flotilla’s organizers.
*  Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh said this week: "If the ships reach Gaza it is a victory; if they are intercepted, it will be a victory too."
* The extremists brought small children on board knowing that they intended to violate international maritime law.
* Passengers on one of the six boats initiated violent clashes.
* While boarding on of the vessels, IDF soldiers were physically attacked with live ammunition and other weapons, including knives and clubs, which had been prepared in advance.  A weapon belonging to one of soldiers was snatched and, apparently, a barbarian fired on IDF forces.
* During the course of the incident, when their lives were put in danger, IDF soldiers were compelled to employ means to disperse demonstrations, including live weapons.
* The IDF action was authorized by the Security Cabinet, the Prime Minister and the Minister of Defense.
* There were nine casualties amongst the flotilla barbarians, and others injured.  Seven Israeli naval officers were also wounded.  All of the injured were evacuated to hospitals.
* Responsibility for the violence lies with the organizers and participants of the flotilla who initiated the violence.
* The entire flotilla was designed as a media stunt and political provocation by elements that are hostile to Israel, primarily the IHH – a violent, extremist group which supports terrorist organizations under the guise of humanitarian activity.******[VERY IMP. INFO ABOUT IHH BELOW]
* There is no famine or humanitarian crisis in Gaza. http://picasaweb.google.com/mererhetoricblog/GazaTravelGuideShopping?fgl=true&pli=1# The area is under the control of Hamas, a terrorist organization that continues to arm itself with weapons and rockets for the purpose of attacking Israelis – as it has done in the past.  Hamas continues to hold captive Gilad Shalit, an Israeli soldier, in contravention of international law.  Accordingly, Israel has the right to inspect all cargo entering Gaza.

*  Israel has and continues to express its desire for peace and continues to extend its hand to all those who are willing to participate in moving forwards to true peace.

The Gaza Flotilla and the Maritime Blockade of Gaza

Legal Background –

31 May 2010
1. A maritime blockade is in effect off the coast of Gaza. Such blockade has been imposed, as Israel is currently in a state of armed conflict with the Hamas regime that controls Gaza, which has repeatedly bombed civilian targets in Israel with weapons that have been smuggled into Gaza via the sea.
2. Maritime blockades are a legitimate and recognized measure under international law that may be implemented as part of an armed conflict at sea.
3. A blockade may be imposed at sea, including in international waters, so long as it does not bar access to the ports and coasts of neutral States.
4. The naval manuals of several western countries, including the US and England recognize the maritime blockade as an effective naval measure and set forth the various criteria that make a blockade valid, including the requirement of give due notice of the existence of the blockade.

5. In this vein, it should be noted that Israel publicized the existence of the blockade and the precise coordinates of such by means of the accepted international professional maritime channels. Israel also provided appropriate notification to the affected governments and to the organizers of the Gaza protest flotilla. Moreover, in real time, the ships participating in the protest flotilla were warned repeatedly that a maritime blockade is in effect.
Here, it should be noted that under customary law, knowledge of the blockade may be presumed once a blockade has been declared and appropriate notification has been granted, as above.
Under international maritime law, when a maritime blockade is in effect, no boats can enter the blockaded area. That includes both civilian and enemy vessels.
8. A State may take action to enforce a blockade. Any vessel that violates or attempts to violate a maritime blockade may be captured or even attacked under international law. The US Commander's Handbook on the Law of Naval Operations sets forth that a vessel is considered to be in attempt to breach a blockade from the time the vessel leaves its port with the intention of evading the blockade.
9. Here we should note that the protesters indicated their clear intention to violate the blockade by means of written and oral statements. Moreover, the route of these vessels indicated their clear intention to violate the blockade in violation of international law.

10. Given the protesters explicit intention to violate the naval blockade, Israel exercised its right under international law to enforce the blockade. It should be noted that prior to undertaking enforcement measures, explicit warnings were relayed directly to the captains of the vessels, expressing Israel's intent to exercise its right to enforce the blockade.

11. Israel had attempted to take control of the vessels participating in the flotilla by peaceful means and in an orderly fashion in order to enforce the blockade. Given the large number of vessels participating in the flotilla, an operational decision was made to undertake measures to enforce the blockade a certain distance from the area of the blockade.

12. Israeli personnel attempting to enforce the blockade were met with violence by the protesters and acted in self defense to fend off such attacks.

*****  IHH was founded in the 1992 and was banned by Israel in 2008 for its affiliation with Hamas and Union of the Good (IHH is a member of Union of the Good, led by Muslim Brotherhood leader Yousef Al Qaradawi who has issued fatwas calling for the killing of Americans and Jews, which was designated by the U.S.)  In the late 1990’s, Turkish authorities found that IHH was purchasing automatic weapons from other Islamic militant groups and arrested local officers.  According to French intelligence expert Jean Louis-Bruguiere, in the mid 1990’s IHH President Bulent Yildrim aimed to “’recruit veteran soldiers in anticipation of the coming holy war [jihad].  In particular, some men were sent into war zones in Muslim countries in order to acquire combat experience.’”  U.S. court documents also reveal that IHH played “[a]n important role” in the Millenium bomb plot.

Judge Jean-Louis Brugiere testified in the Millenium plot that:

“The IHH is an NGO, but it was kind of a type of cover-up in order to obtain forged documents and also to obtain different forms of infiltration for Mujahideen in combat. And also to go and gather these Mujahideens. And finally, one of the last responsibilities  that they had was also to be implicated or involved in weapons trafficking.”

IHH has its own office in Gaza, headed by part, Mohammed Kaya, who works with Hamas.  Over the past few years IHH has held rallies in Turkey in support of Hamas and its objectives.  IHH transfers money to Hamas in the West Bank and Gaza, including the Islamic Charitable Society in Hebron and the Al-Tadhamun Charity Soceity in Nablus (according to a report by an Israeli Intelligence Center).  In January 2009, IHH president Bulent Yildirim met with with Khaled Mashal, chairman of Hamas’ political bureau in Damascus.

IHH’s affilation, financial and political support for Hamas is very troubling.  Hamas is a U.S. designated terrorist organization, and it is surprising that IHH has not been designated by the U.S. government.  Furthermore, IHH works with U.S. groups, such as Viva Palestina (during its 3rd convoy), and now, during the current flotilla, the Free Gaza Movement.  This means that U.S. based organizations are working with, receiving support, including monetary support, from an organization that is essentially an arm of a U.S. designated terrorist organization.

May 31, 2010 MUST READ  Z ST Bd member Mordechai Kedar, prof. Arabic Studies at Bar-Ilan University, authoritatively explains why "The Battle isn't about Gaza, but rather, about radical Islam vs. liberal West."  It really is an Islamist coalition (Turkey, Iran, Hamas, Hezbollah) attacking Israel, the Middle East domicile of the liberal Western orientations.  This is the cultural-religious battle being waged world-wide, right now.  This is the background you must know.  And you must educate others, esp. now that Israel is being portrayed (yet again) as the one in the wrong.

May 17, 2010  MUST READ: Prof. Louis Rene Beres, an expert in nuclear weaponry, articulates the horrors that will befall, at the very least, Israel and Iran should Iran complete its rush towards nuclearization.  It is nauseating to contemplate, but essential to know.  Read "The Waste Land: Israel And Iran After Nuclear War."

Pipes Recipient of First Z STREET Peace Plan Prize

Z STREET awarded Daniel Pipes, the Director of the Middle East Forum and pre-eminent Middle East scholar, its first annual Z STREET Peace Plan Prize for his article, “My Peace Plan: an Israeli Victory.”       Z  STREET is a staunchly pro-Israel organization.

In his article Pipes explains that throughout history, what had been intractable conflicts were resolved only when the victor caused his enemy to abandon his war goals.

“Evidence that the Arab Palestinians already know the vision Pipes has is correct is their refusal to abandon their war manifestos, despite years of failed efforts at negotiated results.  They are in it for the long haul, waiting until Israel either gives up or is forced to give in by outside influences, specifically by the United Nations or the US administration,” said Lori Lowenthal Marcus, president of Z STREET.

“It is time for those who want a ‘safe and secure’ Israel to face the reality that this conflict will end when one side or the other achieves its goal: for Arab Palestinians that is the end of the Jewish State, for Israel it is a decisive victory that ensures the safety and security of the Jewish State,” continued Marcus, “Z STREET applauds Daniel Pipes for his clarity and his courage in laying out the true path to peace.”

"I am grateful to be chosen as the first recipient of the Z STREET peace plan prize,” said Pipes, “I also look forward to it helping awake Americans to their government's pursuing a futile path toward resolving the Arab-Israeli conflict. It's not Israeli 'risks for peace' or 'painful concessions' that will end the dispute but a Palestinian realization that the goal of eliminating the Jewish State cannot succeed."

Z STREET awarded Pipes its $1000 Peace Plan Prize which will be awarded annually for realistic peace plans that are most likely to achieve a permanent Middle East peace.

Z STREET is a non-profit corporation based in Pennsylvania, the mission statement of which is (1) Israel is a Jewish State, and (2) there should be no negotiations with, concessions to, or appeasement of terrorists.

NEVER AGAIN RALLY - April 25, 2010  New York City

The turn out was FANTASTIC - thousands came in the cold and rain.  I was so proud to be a part of this event.  Z STREET is definitely the correct side of the street when it comes to standing up and shouting out the truth about Israel and our right to a Jewish homeland, and our right to battle our enemies, the jihadis and all haters of Israel, and our right to meet pressure and adversity, with STRENGTH and pride.

The Z STREET message was that everyone who showed up, to speak, to hear, to participate, and all those who eagerly and with great pride followed what was happening in NYC on Sunday April 25th - WE ARE THE CONFERENCE OF LEADERS.  Forget about the Conference of Presidents of Conferences...WE ARE IT!  And that's great because we know what is true and we know what needs to be done and we are doing it.  And Will do it.  And we will succeed.

Unlike the Dhimmis on the left who think if they say "Peace Now" peace will roll on in, we are taking matters into our own hands.  Instead of "Shalom Achshav," we believe in "CHAZAK ACHSHAV" - strength now!  That's how we will survive, that's how we will succeed and that is how we will be sustained.

WHAT A GREAT OPPORTUNITY TO BE A PART OF A HISTORIC BREAKTHROUGH IN ZIONIST STRENGTH!!

Thank you to Beth Gilinsky of the Action Alliance, who pulled it all together.

PUBLIC STATEMENT REGARDING
ATTACK ON ISRAEL'S APPROVAL OF
BUILDING HOUSES FOR JEWS IN JERUSALEM
["ANONYMOUS" or ONLY FIRST NAMES CANNOT BE ADDED TO THE LIST OF SIGNATORIES, BUT THE COMMENTS WILL BE POSTED]]

THE TIME IS NOW

It is time to speak out, for all who believe that Jews have the same political freedom, national, civil and religious liberties as every other people to live anywhere in the world, including the right to live anywhere in Jerusalem, Judaism’s eternal capital. To suggest, demand, or even submit to anything less is to support overt religious persecution.

The outrage hurled against the Jewish State by the current US administration for (1) daring to approve the building of homes for Jews in a Jewish neighborhood, two miles from the holiest site in Judaism, the Temple Mount, and for (2) daring to do so when US Vice President Joe Biden was in Israel, is grossly misplaced and is itself an affront.  The public expression of this outrage is yet another means to pressure Israel’s government unfairly.

Outrage should, more appropriately, be directed at those expressing the outrage. We are especially appalled at those who claim to be supporters of Israel and yet demand that this policy of religious bigotry be enforced with threats of official shunning both diplomatically and in terms of military support.

Let’s be clear: The only apologies should come from those attempting to bar Jews from building homes and living in any neighborhoods in Jerusalem, and from those who think that if Jews do build in Jerusalem they should do it quietly, and hope that no one notices.  We reject any such discrimination and duplicity.  We say to all those who claim to support the Jewish State, including Israeli officials, not to be afraid, to say out loud: Yes!  Jews can, do, and will build and live in Jerusalem, now and forever. We call on all those who reject this position to explain why an official policy of religious discrimination is acceptable when it is enforced against Jews.

It is most shocking that a US administration claiming to support a strong Israel, would allow its policies to fan the flames of Arab hatred, incitement and violence against its only free and democratic Middle Eastern ally.

IF YOU AGREE WITH THE ABOVE AND ALSO WANT TO PUBLICLY ASSERT YOUR BELIEF IN THE RIGHT OF JEWS TO LIVE ANYWHERE, ESPECIALLY IN ANY NEIGHBORHOOD IN JERUSALEM, PLEASE LEAVE  A COMMENT BELOW OR EMAIL This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
